The Path to Success

Below are some amazing sites that you can use to help you with your academics! As well as being sorted into which categories they can help you in, they are also accompanied by a quick review and explanation for each, so you can find the perfect website for you!

 

General:

 

https://www.khanacademy.org 

Khan Academy is an AMAZING tool for your schoolwork, it comes equipped with lessons, videos, sample questions and varies in all sorts of topics. It also has a little question area at the bottom of each video which you can use to help you clear up any problems you might have with the material. It is completely free to join and you can make an account and track all of your progress on the website.

Jiksha is another great website, however, it works a little differently. Whilst it offers a much wider variety of subjects than Khan Academy, it more useful for specific questions, such as a word problem. It is again, very useful and helpful as all the answers are usually provided by a person with a very good knowledge of the subject, who is able to explain all the steps.

Help Notes works in the same way as Jiksha, however, it is much more in-depth explanation of questions than the aforementioned. Help Notes also holds a wide variety of topics, and addresses a lot of critical thinking based questions, making it a very good tool to have in your arsenal.

CrashCourse is one of my favorite resources. It spans a variety of topics, from middle school subjects such as Media Literacy to college level subjects such as Engineering and Sociology. CrashCourse is great as an exam review, or just to refresh your knowledge on a topic. Crash course is an amazing resource because of how simple it makes learning, with amazing visuals and extremely knowledgeable teachers. 


 

French:

This website is a great tool for conjugations, which can be really tricky. It encompasses almost all verb tenses, from the basic ones such as présent de l'indicatif to the more advanced verbs such as plus-que-parfait du subjonctif. They also have a very handy rules page for French sentences, verbs and spelling. And, if you just need to check your knowledge, the exercises page is perfect for you.

To Learn French is amazing all round French website, it also offers Spanish, Italian, German, and so many other languages. It has everything you would need, from placement tests, lessons, exercises to spellchecker, vocab sheets and videos! It is free to join and has helped me so much throughout my years as a French student.

Math:

​

https://www.mathway.com/Algebra

Mathway is an extremely useful tool, it can give you the answer to any equation or question, from varying topic such as basic math, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and statistics. Mathway will give you in-depth explanations and will visualize your question if possible.

AJ Designer is also a useful tool, with all sorts of math calculators, from multiplying fractions, to circle equations, to quadratic equations, and so much more.

Desmos is also a very useful tool which can be used to graph equations online and create tables in the blink of an eye, an extremely helpful resource, if you need to find the points of an equation and don't want to graph.

This website is so amazing, it gives you work for each specific course of math, from MPM 1D to MCV 4U, you can use this for extra practice and homework if you're unsure of a topic.

Similar to Khan Academy, this website spans a variety of math levels and gives you videos, practice, and tests accordingly.
 

Science:

This website is great for help with a science lab report, or any report for that matter, The website goes in depth into what should be mentioned and what parts a report constitutes of. This website is so easy to navigate and very helpful.

Slideplayer is like an informative Prezi, where you can find info on any topic, with slideshow lessons created by others.

This is another more informative walkthrough of a science lab report, which focuses solely on the scientific lab report in extreme detail.


 

History:

This site carries a variety of information on US history, Ancient Civilizations and American Government and spans a lot of topics within the war, a very useful history site.

A self-guided history course that can be used alongside your school curriculum or just for general knowledge.

Another great source of history, in the form of TV shows and articles. It's completely free for access although there are some paid shows.

An extremely informative and user-friendly site with a load of history on Canada. This website makes good use of pictures, articles, and timelines for a quick and easy read on any topic in Canadian history.

 

https://www.britannica.com

This website covers a variety of subjects, such as medicine, science, literature and of course, history. It has so many different forms of information, biographies, quizzes, galleries, lists and fun things such as spotlight, on this day and so much more!

 

English:

 

https://www.grammarly.com 

Grammarly is such an amazing tool and is very useful when it comes to essays, Grammarly can correct your spelling, diction, and grammar. And although it is free, you can buy the Pro version for even more tips and help, although the free version is quite helpful on its own.

 

 

http://www.thesaurus.com

Thesaurus is so helpful if you feel as if you are using the same words over and over in an essay, or need to heighten your vocabulary, it gives you all sorts of synonyms for words and is a great tool to spice up an essay.

 

http://www.citationmachine.net 

This site is a great little hack if you're required to use citations for something, and don't know how to. You can use the autofill method to automatically get a citation, or you can manually input information for MLA, APA or another type of citation.
